Qualifications
A member is entitled for a maternity benefit if she met the following qualifications:
1. She has paid at least three monthly contributions within the 12-month period immediately preceding the semester of her childbirth or miscarriage.
2. She has given the required notification of her pregnancy through her employer if employed, or to the SSS if separated, voluntary or self-employed member.
The maternity benefit is equivalent to 100 per cent of the member’s average daily salary credit multiplied by 60 days for normal delivery or miscarriage, 78 days for cesarean section delivery.

Procedure of Computation
Step 1
Exclude the semester of contingency (delivery or miscarriage). Semester of Contingency is used to evaluate if a pregnant woman is qualified for SSS maternity benefit. This is a period of 6 consecutive months, or two consecutive quarters or also called as semester. A quarter refers to three consecutive months.Step 2
Count 12 months backwards starting from the month immediately before the semester of contingency.
Step 3
Identify the six highest monthly salary credits within the 12-month period.
Monthly salary credit means the compensation base for contributions benefits related to the total earnings for the month.

Add the six highest monthly salary credits to get the total monthly salary credit.

An Employed SSS member is giving birth on December 2014, with maximum monthly contributions (P 581.30 for 2014 and P 500 for 2013).

P 32,000 (P 533.33 x 60 days) for normal delivery or
P 41,600 (P 533.33 x 78 days) for cesarean case
Example Scenarios:
Scenario 1: A Voluntary SSS Member is giving birth on December 2014 and pays her premium payments from July 2013 to December 2013 that corresponds to the P 15,000 salary credit (this means, the member is paying the maximum monthly contribution as voluntary member - P 1,560.00 based on the old SSS schedule), after which the member only pays P 550.00 monthly contribution from January to June 2014 which is lower than her previous payments.
The computation of her maternity benefit will be:
The semester of contingency that will be excluded for computation is from July 2014 to December 2014.
The daily maternity allowance will be P 500.00 (P 90,000/180 days).
The total maternity benefit due will be:
P 30,000 (PHP 500.00 x 60 days) for normal delivery or
P 39,000 (PHP 500.00 x 78 days) for cesarean case
Scenario 2: A Voluntary SSS Member is giving birth on December 2014. The member missed premium payments from July 2013 to December 2013 but have payments from January to June 2014 with corresponding salary credit amounting to P 5,000 (or she has paid P 550 monthly).
The computation of her maternity benefit will be:
The semester of contingency that will be excluded for computation will be from July 2014 to December 2014.
The six highest monthly salary credits is P 5,000 each (based from P 550 monthly contribution from January to June 2014, using new SSS Table). Thus, the total monthly salary credits will be P 30,000 (P 5,000 x 6 months contribution).
The daily maternity allowance will be P 166.67 (P 30,000/180 days).
The total maternity benefit due will be:
P 10,000 (P 166.67 x 60 days) for normal delivery or
P 13,000 (P 166.67 x 78 days) for cesarean case
Scenario 3: An Employed SSS Member is giving birth on December 2014. She have premium payments from July 2013 to September 2013 with P 15,000 salary credit (this means she has paid P 520.00 monthly contribution, based from old SSS schedule). Then, for some reason, the member failed to pay for the succeeding months.
The 12-month period before the semester of contingency will be from July 2013 to June 2014. This is also the period that SSS will consider for computation.
The computation of her maternity benefit will be:
The semester of contingency that will be excluded for computation will be from July 2014 to December 2014.
The daily maternity allowance will be be P 250.00 (P 45,000/180 days).
The total maternity benefit due will be:
P 15,000 (P 250.00 x 60 days) for normal delivery or
P 19,500 (P 250.00 x 78 days) for cesarean cases.
Since the requirement needs to have at least three (3) months contribution within the 12-month period preceding the semester of contingency, the member still qualifies for the benefit. Also, the higher your monthly contribution payment is, the higher maternity benefit you will get.

What if i was employed from feb 2014 to jan 2015, and now i am umeployed and I am expecting to give birth on dec?how will they compute my sss maternity benefit?

And your 12 month period before the semester of contingency is from July 2014 to June 2015. Which already satisfies the 1st requirement that you should ave paid at least three monthly contributions within the 12-month period immediately preceding the semester of childbirth.

This is because your 12th month period before the semester of contingency covers June 2014 to May 2015, in which you only have 1 month contribution (June 2014).

Ang inyo pong 12 month period before the semester of contingency ay July 2014 hanggang June 2015. Dapat po ay mahulog kayo at least 3 months sa pagitan ng mga buwan na ito. Kung ang hulog nyo lang po ay July 2015, hindi po kayo entitled for maternity benefits dahil sa lack of contributions. Again po, base po ito sa requirements ni SSS. I suggest pa din po na i double check nyo ito sa SSS branch malapit sa inyo. Salamat po.

Hi Maane, sa pagkaalam ko po hindi na po valid ang miscarriage nyo last 2013. Base po sa requirement ni SSS, kelangan po manotify nyo si employer nyo na buntis kayo at inotify din nila si SSS at least 60 days from the date of conception. Kung hindi nyo po ninform si SSS hindi po kayo makakakuha ng benefits ninyo.

ReplyDeleteHi Lotlot, ayon po sa guidelines ng SSS "The maternity benefit shall be paid only for the first four (4) deliveries or miscarriages starting May 24, 1997 when the Social Security Act of 1997 (RA8282) took effect." Since kayo po ay first time na magaavail ng maternity benefits, sa aking palagay ay kayo po ay qualified na makaavail neto. I suggest din po na iverify nyo po ito sa SSS branch na malapit sa inyo.

CS po ako. Dati na po ako member ng sss nung 2011-2013 last year din po kasi ako nanganak same month din august 2014 magkasunod lang babies ko.pero nakuha ko nman po yung maternity ko sa 1st baby ko last year. Hi..yes nag file na ako ng maternity benefit ko..babalik ako next month para sa MAT -2. Kasi next month ko pa makukuha yung birth crtfcate ng baby ko. Last year d ko na nahulogan yung sss ko. This april-dec 2015 ko lang nahulogan sss ko ng 440. May makukuha po kaya ako ng maternity benefits ko??

Deletenyo pong magsubmit ng SSS Form MAT-1 (Maternity Notification) duly stamped and received by SSS after the 60th day of pregnancy and before the delivery date of the child. SSS will approve and stamp MAT-1 because it is one of the documents needed when filing your MAT-2 or the Maternity Reimbursement Form. Other documents needed are the certificate of pregnancy or the ultrasound report, the certified true or authenticated copy of duly registered birth certificate; SSS digitized ID or SSS ID application stub and two valid IDs with photo.

I am not sure po kung kayo ay still qualified to avail maternity benefits kasi unang una po kelangan po kasi ninyo maipasa ang mga requirements during your pregnancy and right after your delivery.
Kung hindi man po kayo makaavail ng maternity benefits, hindi po sayang ang inyong hulog. makukuha nyo po yan kapag kayo po ay nagretiro. :)

ReplyDeletePunta lang po kayo sa nearest SSS and inform them that mag change kayo ng member status from employed to voluntary member. Ang maternity benefit po ay depende sa hulog nyo.. pag voluntary po, pde po kayo maghulog ng mas malaki kesa sa dati nyong hulog..
DeletePunta lang po kayo sa nearest SSS and inform them that mag change kayo ng member status from employed to voluntary member. Ang maternity benefit po ay depende sa hulog nyo.. pag voluntary po, pde po kayo maghulog ng mas malaki kesa sa dati nyong hulog..

DeleteHi Jho, sorry mejo busy sa work. :) Kung pagbabasehan po yung sa first qualification: She has paid at least three monthly contributions within the 12-month period immediately preceding the semester of her childbirth or miscarriage. Kung manganganak kayo sa April 2016, ang inyong semester of contingency is Jan-Jun 2016. Dapat ay makapag hulog kayo at least 3 consecutive months sa period na Jan-Dec 2015. Kung masisimulan nyo na pong maghulog this month, dapat po ay may makuha kayong benefits.

ReplyDeleteAko po ay employed from 2006 to March 2014 ( March 2014 ang last hulog ko sa SSS as employed (based sa nasilip ko sa SSS near us). Then napatigil na contribution ko. Then nag file ako ng Mat1 sa SSS last July 27, 2015. received ng SSS yung finile ko na Mat1.
But before nila ako iallow mag file ng Mat 1 pinag change muna nila ako to voluntary member last July 10, 2015 and on the same date pinag bayad niya ako ng 990.00 each for April /May/June 2015 total of 2,970. then every month ag pepayment ako ng 990 which is July/August/ and Sept 2015. I am expected to deliver last 10/08/2015 but will deliver tommorrow 10/132015..
Qualified ba ako to claim Mat2?
Nacurious kasi ako sa mga Sample situation.
Sinunod ko lang naman ang advise ng nearest SSS office sa kin to avail the benefits.

Ang 12 month before semester of contigency ko is JUNE 2015- MARCH 2016
Naghulog aq ng contribution as VOLUNTARY.. W/c is equivalent to 1,760 per month.. Naghulog ako ng OCT AT NOV 2015.., then napalyahan ko yung DECEMBER. So ang nabayaran ko po ngayon is JANUARY na po. Nakapag file na din po aq ng MAT 1 OK nmn po.

E nagbigay naman ako marriage license para katunayan. Kakabago ko lang ng status. E kung magpapagawa ako i.d hindi ko naman agad makukuha.paano ko po makuha maternity benefit ko? Please help.

ReplyDeletegud ev po sana sagutin nyu po to mayron po akung UMID ID KASO 2015 lang last nahulogan ng employer ko and now wala na po aku trabaho tpos di narin po nahulogan yung sss ku pregnant po aku ngayon sa pangalawa kong anak tapos gusto ku po sana ngayon mag hulog voluntarily sa sss ng 1500 para mka claim ng benifits ang expected month delivery ko po ay march 2018. tanong ku lang po if makaka claim po bah aku if maghulog aku ngayon at kailan at anong month po ba dapat aku mag hulog... maraming salamat po sa pagsagot.
